Our Approach
Bee Curious Childcare provides ‘Outstanding’ quality childcare in a safe, caring, friendly and stimulating environment which meets the needs of the individual child to learn, play and develop.
Our curriculum has been designed by Caroline and is based on her extensive knowledge of various theories, approaches and from working in early years. It meets the child where they are not the other way round.
The Ethos
To promote learning through curiosity-based activities, invitations and provocations to play, within a safe, stimulating and child friendly environment. Working in partnership with parents, we ensure that the needs of the children are met, and we help children develop into happy and confident individuals.
Our ‘Hive’ is homely and welcoming, nurturing them from the first day which enables them to achieve their full potential.
We place a strong emphasis on learning and development through play, providing opportunities (inside and out).
We acknowledge their individual skills, learning styles and abilities, drawing on a range of theories promoted within the ‘Curiosity Approach.’
We are part of a farm community within Astbury and work alongside the wider town of Congleton promoting values that instil respect, diversity and inclusion.
Our Story
Bee Curious Childcare was founded by Caroline Akker, (Qualified Teacher and Early Years Specialist), as Bee Curious Childminding in June 2021, in the aftermath of the Covid 19 pandemic. Caroline recognised that there was a shortage of high-quality childcare provision in Congleton and set out to create a nurturing, inspiring environment where children could thrive and families felt supported.
Continuing her professional development, attaining The Curiosity Approach accreditation amongst other achievements, Bee Curious Childminding was inspected by Ofsted in May 2023, and received Outstanding in All Areas.
Bee Curious Childcare opened at Glebe Farm in January 2024, and quickly outgrew its second home to where it is now, opening the expanded nursery in September 2024, and further expanding to include a pre-school in September 2026.
Bee Curious Childcare was inspected by Ofsted in May 2025, and again received Outstanding in All Areas. See our Ofsted report here
In 2026, The National Day Nurseries Association shortlisted Bee Curious Childcare as NDNA finalists for Nursery of the Year - Central, Manager of the Year (Caroline) and Apprentice of the Year, (Holly). Recognising Caroline's "passion, vision and inspirational leadership", Caroline was awarded Manager of the Year
